Northern Lights Dining Student Office Assistant

Description
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:
To support Dining Services by engaging in general secretarial activities including note taking, typing, correspondence, telephone communications, filing, special projects, etc.

Shifts are Monday Through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(included but not limited to)
1. Type memorandums, correspondence, reports, etc. as requested.
2. Produce makeshift signs as requested by Managers, proper signs are developed by NMU Dining Services Marketing team.
3. Answers telephone calls, and assists caller if able to by answering questions, redirecting the call or takes appropriate and detailed messages.
4. Engage in general filing activities.
5. Engage in daily office tasks including office reports, menu adjustments, printing, copying, monitoring and responding to emails in a professional manner.
6. Pick up mail and invoices at Dining Services unit, and deliver to the appropriate individuals.
7. Perform other related duties.
8. New employee facility orientation and time clock enrollment.
9. Responsible for student employee scheduling, schedule adjustments, requested time off, and student employment reports. 10. Responsible for observing safety, health, and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the University or Governmental authority.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives routine supervision from Operations Managers and Manager of Employment Operations & Training and Senior Administrators.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be a registered student attending NMU (minimum credits 6 hours in Fall and Winter Semesters).

• Strong computer skills including Google Sheets, Google Documents, etc
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to be flexible.
* Be able to prioritize, organize, and multitask.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Willingness to improve skill levels.
• Some past experience in an office.
